As well as the two 18-hole championship golf courses, the hotel also boasts a state-of-the-art golf academy, consisting of a 9-hole course, a putting green and a driving range, where the resident pro can assist you.

The Old Tom Morris Course has been attracting golfers for over a century and now, with the addition of the magnificent Sandy Hills Links, Rosapenna is set to become one of the top links destinations in the world.

Play a piece of history, created by the father of modern golf, Tom Morris. As with most good links courses, the Old Tom Morris Links takes advantage of natural terrain to provide a classic links golf challenge.

Food & beverage

Rosapenna has long been famous for its food. The head chef literally has the pick of the freshest locally caught seafood, as local fishermen bring their catches to the hotel and she handpicks the produce for that day’s menu.

Seafood is the restaurant’s speciality, with cod, hake, monkfish and haddock all landed on the pier opposite the hotel. Lobster are caught along the Atlantic Drive Headlands and scallop divers deliver their catch, gathered just that afternoon, fresh for the evening’s menu.

Whether you decide to eat in the main restaurant overlooking the bay, have a snack in the Golf Pavillion after a round or 2 or just have a light lunch in the elegant lounge, you are assured of first-class food, first-class service and first-class surroundings.

Room information

The hotel has 72 rooms and suites, with a choice of classic guest rooms, deluxe guest rooms, junior suites, senior suites, bay view suites and penthouses. All of the rooms are bright, comfortable and luxurious, with modern comforts and facilities.

The deluxe rooms are more spacious than the classic rooms, while junior suites each have either one king-size bed or 2 standard double beds. The suites have a well-defined seating area and dressing room. The bay-view suites offer modern luxury mingled with classic elegance. They also have a range of double and king-size beds. Each of these suites has a comfortable seating area and a private balcony looking out over the bay.

To be completed in 2009, the penthouse suites offer the ultimate in comfort and luxury. The penthouse suites will be large and offer comfortable and spacious luxury accommodation. As with the bay-view suites, each of the penthouses has its own private balcony.

Rosapenna is set in its own 800-acre estate, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean along the bays of Sheephaven and Mulroy. The hotel itself is bordered on one side by the ocean and on the other by its two 18-hole championship golf courses and its 9-hole golf academy.

The estate is situated on the Fanad Penninsula, which offers stunning views of the coastline and the ocean. The bustling town of Letterkenny is just a 30-minute drive from the hotel and the art, shopping and culture of the city of Derry is only an hour away. The hotel is also only a short drive from the Glenveagh National Park, one of only 5 national parks in Ireland and the largest of the 5. Along with being a nature reserve, Glenveagh is also the site of Glenveagh Castle. The estate is also home to the largest herd of red deer in Europe and the only nest of golden eagles in Ireland.

Just a short stroll down the road from the hotel is the fishing village of Downings. Situated on a beautiful beach, its sandy shores are ideal for children and the area’s caves and rock pools are just waiting to be explored.

With 2 beautiful beaches close by, there is plenty to see and do nearby. The area is famous for its watersports, or you could go pony trekking around the region. Fishing trips can be arranged nearby, as well as supervised dives via the new local dive centre.

City of Derry Airport is approximately one hour’s drive from the hotel and offers flights from Dublin, Europe & the UK

Belfast City Airport and Belfast International Airport are 2.5 to 3 hours’ drive from the hotel and both of these airports accommodate flights from Cork, Dublin, the UK, Europe, the USA and Canada

Dublin Airport is 4 hours’ drive from the hotel and accommodates flights from all around the world. If you don't relish the drive from Dublin Airport you can always connect with Aer Arann and fly from Dublin to Donegal Airport or City of Derry Airport.

By Ferry:
